Hi! I just wanted to get on here and write a little about FORWARD (the title track of the album) and what the song means to me and stuff! FORWARD is a really special song to me, I initially wrote it a little under a year ago when I had just come back from Submersion. If you don't know, Submersion is a small grassroots music fest out at a campground in New Jersey. They feature a lot of deep dubstep and 140, and do a really good job of showcasing soundsystem culture. It was a super inspiring environment to be in (like most music fests and concerts are for me) but there was a touch of magic in the air that I've never quite been able to put my finger on. I came home and after having started some of the research for the album, I felt like I needed to make something super deep that called back to some of dubstep's earlier styles and vibes. Its definitely not a bona fide 2000s early dubstep type of song, but I tried to take influence from that era as well as the modern deep dubstep and 140 scene. 

The vocals I ended up grabbing were from an infamous interview/Q&A sesh with Mala, and in the clip he talks about his first experiences with FWD>>, one of the event series that put dubstep on the map in its early days. That club night shares a name with my album and it isn't a mistake, because to me it feels like ever since day 1 of dubstep we've been trying to do more, let the sound evolve, and keep pushing our culture forward. Dubstep was in a sense birthed from these ideas, people taking influence from all over and making something new with it. Thats kinda what FORWARD (the title track and the album as a whole) is about to me, taking the history and art that came before you and adapting it into something new.

Hello and welcome to the FORWARD blog. This is where I'll be talking a little bit more in depth about my new album FORWARD and what it means to me! I'll also be on here to talk about experiences I have going to or playing shows, and generally documenting my role and experiences in the modern dubstep scene. I'm really excited to try this out, I think blogging is really cool and one of the best parts of like older internet culture, I kind of grew up as the blog was dying so I guess hopefully this one is cool and you like it.
